Educational Background

  • 1998 - 2002  University of Chicago; Chicago, Illinois
    At one of the premier universities in America I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and minored in biology. In addition I worked as a calculus teaching assistant, studied literature in London and Spanish in Guatemala, and wrote sports articles for the Chicago Weekly News, a university newspaper.
  • 1994 - 1998  Liverpool High School; Liverpool, New York
    I graduated in the top five percent of my class, had SAT and ACT scores in the 99th percentile, and received the prestigious National Merit Finalist Award. During my junior and senior years, I was captain of the cross-country and track teams and an all-county runner.

Job Experience

  • 2009 - present President Translation Service Group Intl.; Neihu, Taiwan
    Currently I work as an English proofreader for a major international translation company. My duties include proofreading translated documents and checking their content against the originals for accuracy.
  • 2007 - 2008  .Taipei Times; Neihu, Taiwan
    At the Taipei Times I worked as a bilingual editor. While there I helped to create an IELTS and a National Geographic page. In addition I wrote sports and features articles as a contributing reporter.
  • 2006 - 2007  .Bilingual Weekly - Taiwan News; Xizhi, Taiwan
    As foreign editor at Bilingual Weekly, a bilingual magazine aimed at teaching English to Taiwanese students, my duties included writing, editing, and proofreading all English content of the magazine.

Additional Skills and Experience

  • Foreign languages
    I speak Chinese fluently and am able to read and write both traditional and simplified characters. Also I speak Spanish at an intermediate level. I write freelance articles for Live ABC.
